Beneath the surface

As  I was watching WSB-Television”s Channel 2 Action News today, I was reminded again of what is beneath the surface of the news that you see on the air.   The reporters and anchors would be just talking heads without the many other talented and skilled people.  Let me name most of the many:  photo journalists, assignment editors, video editors, writers, producers, engineers, directors….. and bosses who motivate us and bring us all together.  I doubt viewers will ever appreciate those beneath the surface as much as those of us who work in the media do. But that’s the way it is…perhaps the way it always has been and will be.    Here’s one small way you could encourage those behind the scenes:    the next time you see a story you thought was well done, ask or e-mail  the reporter or anchor..ask him or her who shot and edited the video?  Then send behind-the-scenes people an e-mail with their first and last name separated by a period  You’ll make someone’s day!

I am hoping that your Preemie grand daughter is doing well.
Preemies mean so much to us. I want to let you know that we will be participating in the Bloggers Unite Fight for Preemies event on November 17th, Prematurity Awareness Day. I thought you might be interested in joining us. Here’s a link for more info and to sign up to help us spread the word: Nov. 17th is the day we all fight – because babies shouldn’t have to.
