Remembering Will Chamberlin

Trying to keep warm by an open fire in an open-air pavilion.   We’re at Sandy Creek Park near Athens, Georgia to honor the memory of Race Director Will Chamberlin.  Will died this year following a stroke.   The Georgia Tech graduate was only 57.  Will’s mother, Annette, led a group of relatives that traveled from Florida and the Georgia coast.   Hundreds of his friends came to remember Will and run one of Will’s favorite 5Ks, the Santa Stroll.   Will’s father, George, was unable to make the trip, but will be able to see what happened via video.  A tree is planted just outside the pavilion in memory of Will.   It will be the first of many inspired by Will’s life and his dedication to enriching the lives of others.

There’s also a specially engraved plaque that will note Will and others who in the future plant more trees.

This the shirt that pictures Will in a role he seemed to enjoy each year during the Santa Stroll.   We’ll show you more in a photo show which we’ll be publishing within the next few days.  The link is on the right hand side of this blog.
