Lighting the way into the New Year

A volunteer along the course lighting the way for runners New Years eve.   Several hundred of us are run/walking the” Flashlight 5K” in Lawrenceville, Georgia  just outside Atlanta.  Aside from starting and finishing 3.1 miles, the main objective is to stay upright.  Don’t trip over something in the dark and fall.  As far as I could tell, there was only one accident.  A young woman told me she stepped in a pothole and cut her ankle, but it was not serious.   She kept on going and finished strong.  I’d like to believe this is a metaphor for how we finished 2010, and the way we’ll start the New Year!
