Big trucks-snow and ice

Airlines regularly cancel flights when the weather is hazardous.  What about big trucking companies and independent drivers.    Scores of tractor-trailers Monday turned metro-Atlanta’s snow and ice covered highways into virtual parking lots.  Apparently, federal and state transportation departments have no authority to force drivers to park their rigs off the highways until conditions improve.   Airlines voluntarily cancel flights.   Should trucking companies and independent drivers do the same?

Trucks that haul for Snyder National are required to have chains on their Rigs. What ever happened to CHAINS. In the 60’s ice storm I drove my Mercury everywhere with chains. Chains on service vehicles, plows, trucks, and any state or govt vehicle would break up the ice faster for plowing off the streets. Whover is running GDOT should know that, Cecil in McDonough
