The B-1b Bomber

This is part of a display I saw Saturday at Robins Air Force, about a 2-hour drive south of Atlanta.  We were there  to run a race, but this display grabbed my attention because it was about an aircraft that used to be based at Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta, Georgia just north of Atlanta.                                                               It’s so much larger and sleeker than the bombers I remember  during World War II. the Korean war and Vietnam.

This one they dubbed, “The Midnight Train from Georgia”.

The  history of how the plane came to be on display at Robins is detailed in this legend that is part of the display.  You may need to enlarge it or use a magnifying glass.  The Bomber is an example of how some weapons of war quickly become obsolete.   It reminds me of computers.
