Power shovels

This is a picture I shot Thursday from the 5th floor of a hospital room in Marietta, Georgia.  It’s the Kennestone Hospital’s Wellness Center which is expanding.  I was with my wife, Gisela, who’s recovering from surgery.  These power shovels are like two giant spoons moving dirt from one place to another.   I’m sure they had a plan, but from above,  it looked like one shovel would move the dirt in one direction while the other seemed to be moving it back where it came from.  Maybe they’re making progress with the technique of “two steps forward and one step back”.    Eventually they’ll get there…wherever there is.     It sure was noisy and could be heard  all day from my wife’s hospital rooms 5 stories above.   Fortunately, pain killers desensitized her to the constant roar.  God willing, she’ll be coming home tomorrow.  The power shovels likely will keep on shoveling for several weeks to come.
