The cutting edges

This is a picture of a cutting edge from a package opened today.      I can’t remember how many times I’ve cut myself trying to extract plastic-enclosed merchandise.     I have a couple of tools that I bought especially for the task, but still it’s a hassle.   One hospital emergency room nurse tells me they get several patients each week who’ve cut themselves trying to open these plastic containers.   Surely the manufacturers could develop a less harmful way of packaging their products.  Perhaps just one container maker could become the “cutting edge” in developing a safer product.   Is it really that hard?
