Tiger, tiger….

“Tiger, tiger burning bright

In the forests of the night.

What immortal hand or eye

Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies

Burnt the fire of thine eyes? On what wings dare he aspire?

What the hand dare seize the fire?……………………………………

When the stars threw down their spears,

And what water’d heaven with their tears,

Did He smile his work to see?

Did He who made the lamb make thee?……………………………..”  This is an excerpt from a poem written by the English Poet William Blake (1757-1827).  The pictures on this posting are of Tucker, Georgia High’s artificially created likeness of its mascot.  I ran the Tucker High 5K Road Race Saturday.   Each year I see their mascot, I’m always reminded of William Blake’s poem memorized so many years ago.

“….Did He smile His work to see?    Did He who made the lamb make thee?….” are questions that we’ll always be asking, but likely never will be answered.
