Talking in my sleep

For years, my wife has told me that I talk…sometimes holler in my sleep.  I had my doubts.   This week I bought a small audio recorder.   It’s no more than 5 or 6 inches long and 2 inches wide.    The MP3 player/recorder fits snugly into the palm of my hand.  The 2GB Olympus product can record up to 843 hours …ideal to put beside my bed to capture the sounds  made during sleep.    Around 10 pm., it was time to test my 35-dollar investment and satisfy my curiosity.  The time counter indicated it took me less than 5 minutes to fall asleep.   I descended into a regular breathing pattern, about 30 breaths a minute.   There were NO snoring sounds.  It would be 5-hours before there were any noises.   At 5 hours and 9 minutes, I heard a sound of distress…like an extended “ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh”     It repeated 3 times before a brief sound of relief.    The relief was like a smile or chuckle, but no understandable words.   Then I returned to a regular breathing pattern.  As I write this, the counter is now at 6-hours and 30 seconds.   It’s almost time to go to sleep again.
