Our spelling has gone to pot..

I was listening today to my car radio.  There was a commerical for a money lending company.  The announcer told us we should contact the “mylend” company.  He continued that’s “milend”.  The commercial is part of a pattern of misspelling that permeates our messages, texting and letters.    We’re told to spell cars with a k, love with a uv, and on an on it goes.  Does it really matter whether we spell correctly  as long as we’re communicating clearly?
