Eddie Arnold, Loretta Lynn, Ferlin Huskey, et.al.

As I was channel hopping this evening, I came across  a proigram on GPB (Georgia Public Broadcasting) called “Legends of Country”.  I stopped changing channels and watched because the performers evoked memories from the beginning of my career in broadcasting.  A few that we heard:  Eddie Arnold, Loretta Lynn, Ferlin Huskety, Tammy Wynette and Bill Anderson.  The GPB telecast had clilps that go back to the days of black and white television.    A few of the legends still are alive but most are gone.  One of the things I learned early on hosting “Don Mac’s Platter Party”  is to appreciate the music of the current generation.   One of the quickest ways to disconnect is to repeat the phrase  “the way it used to be.”    Nevertheless, we can have our occasional  indulgences that take us back to the time when we were the “current generation”.
