The experienced pace themselves, while

the inexperienced sprints at the beginning.  So it was again today (Saturday) at a one mile fun run.   This was part of the “Firehouse 5K” in Covington, Georgia.  It’s about 40 miles east of Atlanta.  Usually the younsters can sustain this fast pace for less than 200 yards.  Their bravado start gives way to their untrained cardio vascular system.   It’s fun to watch their enthusiasm and development as they gain more experience.  Ideally, they’ll learn to finish faster than they start.
