A jungle of political signs near a polling place in Georgia today(Tuesday). It’s primary day for both the Republican and Democrat parties to choose their candidates for November’s general election. But perhaps a greater attraction to voters was the chance to say yes or no to TSPLOST. It’s the “Transportation Special Local Option Sales Tax” If passed it would impose an addtional one percent sales tax for the next 10 years. Its backers say the money would be used to “untie Atlanta”…projects they claim would relieve Atlanta’s traffic congestion. The “no” sayers disagee. They don’t trust the planners and politicians to spend the money wisely. They’re looking for a better plan in two years when the issue could be on the ballot again.
