Betrayed

Now a con artist appears to have invaded the running community. We dedicated runners are an honest group. Honesty seems to be part of the makeup of a person who runs. At least that’s been my experience for more than forty years. For the first time, there appears to be someone who has betrayed our trust. He setup and advertised a race in metro Atlanta that was to happen this coming Saturday evening. The run was to benefit a charity. It turns out the charity and he were the same. Several people pre-registerd and sent a check or authorized a deduction from their credit card. He’s gone with the proceeds and the phones for him and the charity have been disconnected. The loss of the money for individual runners is relatively small, but the betrayal is immeasureable.
