I didn’t watch the Presidential debate tonight long enough to reach any conclusions about who got the best of it in the verbal battle. That’s all it is a verbal battle. Again, it’s not what they say, but what they do that counts. One point: as a professional interviewer, I noted that the moderator did not insist on a “yes” or “no” answer to one question. One member of the audience asked President Obama whether he supports the statement of his Energy Secretary that there’s nothing he could do about the price of gasoline. The President never answered “yes” or “no”, but launched into the things he felt his adminisration has done or will do. The moderator should have insisted on “yes” or “no” before moving on.
