He’s back

75-year-old Jim Parks is a good friend. Normally, we see each other at Atlanta area races. But Jim’s not been there for the past several months. Today (Thursday), Jim agreed to tell me the story about why he’d been away. We met at a trail that runs beside the Chattahoochee river. We walked and talked. The 75-year-old told me that the aftermath of a bladder problem was the reason he’d not run since last February. A surgeon removed several malignant tumors. The doctor then began treating him with a vaccine designed to prevent the tumors from returning. His body didn’t like the vaccine. Jim says the vaccine caused bladder spasms. He told me the spasms are the worst pain he’s ever had. Now his body is improving. Jim tolerated the 3-mile walk and talk today very well. He may try a 5K walk-run this weekend. He’s back! Thank God!!
