This kind of day must have been what Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein had in mind when they wrote the words and music for “Oklahoma”. It was 39 degrees when we began the 5K “Turkey Trot” near Cartersvillle, Georgia…just 40 miles northwest of Atlanta. Not a cloud in the sky throughout the morning as the temperature gradually rose to 60 degrees. The Rodgers and Hammerstein masterpiece made its debut on Broadway in 1943. Twelve years later, “Oklahoma” became an Academy Award winning movie. This is the kind of day that inspired me to remember. Oh to be able to sing like Gordon McRae!
Oh what a beautiful morning…oh what a beautiful day!
