OuthousewmaneneringOuthouses were a part of living on my grandparents and great grandparents farms. It’s one of the reasons that I now so appreciate indoor toilets. Still there are those who reach back…not to relive…but to decorate with a childhood memory.OUTHOUSE-ModernVersion-1-16-13The most common useable version of the outhouse is the modern day portable toilet. You can see..and use…porta-johns, porta-potties…and other brand names several places. They include construction sites and athletic events. My last memory of an original outhouse is as a young boy growing up in East Tennessee. It was Halloween night. “Trick or Treat” was all tricks in those days. A group of us boys took the only outhouse left in our neighborhood and somehow hoisted it atop a utility pole. I don’t remember how the owner got it down.
