Cutting the frills and thrills…

WSB-Television aired a story today (Tuesday-4-2-13) about how some of the military fly-overs for public events are being suspended because of budget cuts. The story included people bemoaning the loss of the spectacular displays. Closer to one of my passions is the cancellation of this year’s “Mountain Ranger Runs and Bike event” at the Ranger Camp near Dahlonega, Georgia. It’s been one of my favorites for as long as I can remember. Still I understand. During World War II, we cancelled many civilian events to concentrate on beating Hitler, Mussolini, Tojo and the rest of their gang. Perhaps a similarly focused effort would help us win another war: bringing the government’s budget under control. We can do without the frills and thrills until the job is done.
