81-year-old Charles Cohn of Austell, Georgia died almost 5 months ago, but I didn’t learn about his death until yesterday. Charles came to many of the races I ran, especially marathons. A mutual friend tells me that Charles died after a stroke left him in a coma. He lingered for less than a week. His wife, Maggie, passed about 3 years ago. Our mutual friend tells me there was a memorial service at the Unitarian Church near North Druid Hills Road and interstate 85. The retired physicist lived a rich life. He was not much for small talk, but when you engaged him in conversation about his career and his beloved Maggie, he seemed to enjoy it. So did I.
