Methodist…holy catholic church responses

About yesterday’s posting, please read Deanna’s comment in the comment section of this blog. In addition, a dear friend writes via e-mail, “What do Protestant churches mean when they recite, ‘I believe in the holy catholic church’ in the Apostles’ Creed?
The Protestant reformers understood themselves to be a part of ‘the holy catholic church’ Millions of Protestants still repeat these words every week as they stand in worship to recite the ‘Apostles’ Creed’. The word, catholic, was first used in the early second century (A.D.) when Ignatius of Antioch declared, ‘Where Jesus Christ is, there is the catholic church…………Protestants, of course, do not equate ‘catholic’ with ‘Roman Catholic’………….
