Fred and Barbara both are heroes

Fred Birchmore-Age 98

98-year-old Fred Birchmore has been a member of the Athens Kiwanis club for 78 of his 98 years.   The Kiwanians named a 5K run in his honor.  The Fred Birchmore event was Sunday.  Fred was regaling us with stories of his life as a world traveler, adventurer, sportsman, author, naturalist and historian.

Barbara Conley

Barbara Conley is among the runners Fred greeted.   Barbara runs while battling cancer.   Her smile and courage make her a hero to us as she stays on the roads.
